Interestingly, quite a while ago Foilman and I had an e-conversation which went something along the lines of: 'how about a penalty of some description each time you use the 'reset to fixed' button?'. I can't remember exactly what our conclusion was at the time, probably something like 'Great idea. How big a penalty?', 'Um... Oh.'. However, now that there is a lot more experience of how long the puzzles take etc, I might suggest a 15 second time penalty for using the reset to fixed button?
Though having said that, on the weekend puzzles I'll take all the crutches I can get! |
