 | Posted - 2007.04.24 07:45:00 Looking forward to see best personal time.

Yes I can see that average solving times will tend to be too high, since user puzzles are not competitive (and should not be). The # of Solvers is already giving a good indication of the difficulty of user puzzles.

Also would it be possible to add Shading in the Puzzle Designer page? This would give more creative power to the designers to compose nice figure.

Foilman, Thanks for all the work you did to add the User Puzzles feature in the site, it is appreciated.

Btw, I recommend using shading when doing my puzzles, as the completed puzzle looks so much better in color. Also there is a lot of color deductions in puzzles filled with Two's.

I think #100 is much more harder then #105.

Those links are not currently working for me because I need to install a language pack, and I do not have administrator right on this laptop. I will try later on my desktop computer.Quote: | Originally Posted by jankonyex For Naivoj,I think #100 is much more harder then #105. |
For me #100 requires only one exploration, as with inside/outside paths deductions almost everything is forced. After your posting I look closer to #105, and find out it is easier then I originally though: #105 also only requires one exploration but a shorter one. So I now think that #105 is similar in difficulty, but a bit easier than #100. A top solver like you makes more deductions than the average Kwontom solver for whom #105 might be harder. In a couple of days we will see which of the 2 puzzles has more solvers.

Btw my apologies for breaking several days ago your puzzle listed below, as I did not understand your symmetrical restriction rule at first.

Do you consider the following an appropriate(symmetrical wise) alternative solution; It is rotationally symmetrical (4 times); Note that the 4 "towers" can be longer or shorter creating more alternative solutions.

I've already emphasized it's "reflection" "symmetric" and not only "1 way", but seems like I've be ignored or scoffed, so I decided never post this kind of puzzles there.Quote: | Originally Posted by naivoj T...] |

Very nice on the zeros and ones!

I spent a while looking for an alternate solution afterwards, but couldn't find any...

Foilman would it be possible to include in the protected puzzle drop down list of the "Post New Topic" page, your solved user puzzles of the last X days.Quote: | Originally Posted by rebes Shhh!  Don't ruin the fun in it |

I think that'd be overkill. Since we're not competing on time, it only spoils things for the person reading the comment, so let's just make sure we mark our posts/threads as spoilers. Personally, I do the new user puzzles before reading the forum anyway.

Minor spoiler for Naivoj's Zeroes and Ones:

I think most people would just skim over the "distraction" comment. If they hadn't done the puzzle it would read as "irrelevance" rather than "misdirection". Perhaps a canny few would remember April Fool's Day.

Yes I agree, so users should stop using the current “User created puzzles” topic if they want to comment on a specific user puzzle and create a new topic. I will post one to start this off.Quote: | Originally Posted by procrastinator Since we're not competing on time, it only spoils things for the person reading the comment, so let's just make sure we mark our posts/threads as spoilers. |
Obviously I made puzzle #86 for fun, so nothing is really a spoiler here

 | Posted - 2007.05.11 01:41:32 Woo hoo!  I'm the first solver of a Jankonynex puzzle!!!  (# 115)  Granted that's it only rated Normal and his Hard ones stump me, but it still feels like an accomplishment

 | Posted - 2007.05.11 05:13:46 To Jankonyex,
Congratulations on the design of user puzzle #117 (Jcsl51). Truly impressive! All 1’s except for one 3; Half of the rows have no clue at all, including the bottom row (which makes it harder); 4 rows are totally filled with 1’s; Empty and packed rows alternate; Plus it is really hard, at least for me: it took me 2 long separate sessions. In the first one I felt I explored all the possibilities, but each one led to an impossibility. In the 2nd session I was happy to discover a new (shade/color related) pattern, which was useful several times. You design other great puzzles but this one is my favorite.

 Regarding,

I though those links were not working for me because I had to install a language pack, but I now think that or they are invalid or I am not allowed: If I pasted the full link in IE or Firefox I get a "404: Page not found" message, and if I pasted the first part //www.hkedcity.net/sch_files/ I get a "403: Forbidden" message?Quote: | Originally Posted by jankonyex For Naivoj,I think #100 is much more harder then #105.#100: http://www.hkedcity.net/sch_files/a/hp/hp-0210481/public_html/(Naivoj)_100
