I've added a new button to the forum post editor. You can use it to add small puzzle diagrams to your posts!

Example:-

When you're writing a post, click the little puzzle icon and a new window will pop-up with the designer in it. Once you're happy with what you've got, click "OK" and the "code" for the puzzle will be embedded into your post at the current point.

There's no easy way to edit the diagrams once they're in (unless you can figure out what the strange code it puts into your message means) - it's easier when editing your message to delete the existing diagram and add a new one if you want to change it.

This should make it easier to explain situations, patterns etc. Oh, and you can also add question marks if you want to pose a problem or indicate squares that can have any number in them, as shown here:-

(This is procrastinor's puzzle from the recent 'help' topic!)

Feel free to experiment with it by replying here...

Two 1/3 patterns:

That's swell, I like it!  I thought you said it would take a while?

Ya know, procrastinator mentioned it would be fun to share patterns, what if we did share them, but just didn't put the solution in?  Or would that still give too much away?

It was a lot easier than I thought. Obviously I've already got the code for drawing puzzles, it was just a case of adding question marks & a pop-up window.

As for posting solutions to patterns, well it's up to you! I like to figure them out myself, but if someone wants to know how a pattern should go I'd be happy to show it.

Brilliant addition!  Now I just have to find some new patterns myself...

Excellent feature!  I've wondered how it was done, just now found it.
There's still ambiguity and questions about where the edges and corners are in patterns.  Would it be hard to add some sort of line delimiter on puzzle patterns to show edges?
