This is a new pattern that I found.

I'm not sure if anyone's seen this before but 1 line can be deduced from this. If you've already seen it then tell me. I feel proud for finding a new pattern.

I indeed use that one myself... but I've not seen it posted on here, so well done for being first on that!  In fact... that's one of the patterns that my puzzle creator uses when it's checking to see how solvable a given puzzle is...

I use that one also. I actually used it a few times on today's puzzle.

Here are some more I thought I mignt mention. This is normally found in corners but would work anywhere. Whenever I find this pattern it helps me a great deal.

6 lines 2 x's

Another very helpful one that I use often and once again this is normally found in corners but would work anywhere.

Using a few simpler strategies you can deduce 5 lines and 8 x's from this.

This pattern is kind of hard to illustrate but I have used it several times recently. The semi-loop can represent any form of semi-loop.

aside from the normal x's to cancel 3-ways you can deduce 2 x's from this.

If you guys have any more strategies up your sleeve that you've been using recently feel free to share!

I have been going back through the archives and have seen this pattern in the corners alot.

7 lines and 3 x's can be deduced from this.

I think that's the same pattern posted in this thread ... in which case it's only 4 lines and 1 cross, isn't it?

Yes.

Unless there are some puzzle edges implied by that picture, in which case there could be more.

Thinking about that, I have a question for you, Foilman.

Would it be possible to add an "edge" feature to the "include puzzle" option?  Perhaps something that looks like the border on the daily puzzles, that could be toggled on or off for each side?  Or would that be too tricky?

It's been suggested before... who knows, I might just do it one day!

Make that 8 lines and 4 x's. And yes I was implying a corner.

Here's another one I see on occasion that yields 3 x's:

You don't really need the line though, just the other x's.

I hadn't thought of that. What I showed you is how it appeared to me. I didn't think about taking out the line.
